KLAPA SUBRENUM UVELIČALA PROSLAVU SV.VLAHA U LOS ANGELESU
Los Angeles, 3. veljače, 2008
 U subotu, 2. veljače, u hrvatskoj crkvi i župskom centru Sv. Ante u Los Angelesu pred oko 400 uzvanika održana je sedamnaesta Festa sv. Vlaha u organizaciji Libertas Foundation.
Svečanost je počela sa svetom misom, gdje je Klapa Subrenum iz Župe dubrovačke s nekoliko prigodnih pjesama već na misi oduševila sve prisutne. Misa je je završila tradicionalnim “grličanjem” koju su uz župnog svećnika Vlatka Poljička služili umirovljeni dugogodišnji svećenici msgr. Janko Segarić i msgr. Srećko Diomartić.
Svečanost se nastavila u glavoj dvorani gdje su djeca hrvatske škole otpjevali Himnu sv. Vlaha, dok je trajala procesija barjaka u kojoj su učestovali svi dosadašnji festanjuli. Program je i ove godine uspješno vodio Dominik Vlašić. Ovogodisnji festanjuli Marija Pušić Basković i Kap Mato Stanović održali su kratke prigodne govore. Poslje odlične “domaće” večere – rižot, riba, blitva i rozata - nastavljen je program. Lokalna kolo grupa “Croatia” izvela je popularni Linđo.
Medju prisutnim gostima bili su: Generalni Konzul RH u Los Angelesu Ante Barbir, konzulica za turizam, ekonomiju i tisak Branka Söman, poznati hollywoodski i hrvatski producent i oskarovac Branko Lustig, producent dubrovačke episode američke serije “Amazing race” Erika Milutin Diller, predsjednik Hrvatske narodne udruge Dr. Mirko Giaconi sa suprugom, gosti iz dubrovačkog kraja na posjeti Bosko Primić, Niko Alamat, Nino Obradović te mnogi ugledni gosti sa svih krajeva zapadne obale. Bilo ih je iz Seattle, San Jose,Watsonvilla, Delana i mnogih drugih mjesta.
Bez sumnje najveća atrakcija večeri je bila Klapa Subrenum koji prvi put gostuju na obali Pacifika. Oni su svojim nastupom oduševili sve prisutne koji im svojim pljeskom naprosto nisu dali sići sa pozornice ni nakon drugog produženog dijela koncerta. Komentari kao - najbolja grupa koja je ikad posjetila Los Angeles, savršeno, bravo naši župljani, dođite nam opet - čulo se na svakom koraku.
 Mnogi prisutni su komentirali da će im ovaj “dan ki dohodi nam jednom na godište” ostati u sjećanju po odličnoj organizaciji te nezaboravnom nastupu Klape Subrenum koja je stigla takoreći u zadnji čas. Ni umor, ni izgubljena prtljaga, ništa nije utjecalo na izvanredan koncert Klape Subrenum.
Organizatori okupljeni u Odboru za proslavu Sv.Vlaha pod pokroviteljstvom fundacije Libertas izdali su prigodnu knjižicu iz koje se vidi i humanitarna strane ove feste.
Libetas fundacija je osnovana za vrijeme napada na Dubrovnik i od tada je učestovala u mnogim dobrotvornim akcijama. Posljednjih 5 godina pri Libertasu je osnovan stipendijski fond “Ante i Evelyn Mrgudić” u spomen preminulim vrijednim članovima i suorganizatorima Libertas fundacije iz kojeg se svake godine stipendira desetak učenika deficitarnih zanta u Dubrovačko-neretvanskoj županiji. XVII Annual Festa sv. Vlaha 2008

Dear Friends and Honored guests,
On behalf of the Libertas Foundation, I would like to welcome you all to our 17th annual Sv.Vlaho celebration. I would first like to mention that without the hard working kitchen staff, committee members, and sponsors, this event would not be possible every year.
As we enter this new year and another Sv.Vlaho Festa, we look back on past years and all that has been accomplished. During the war in Croatia, we were able to establish a soup kitchen and donate many essential items to hospitals and people in need. Additionally,
many historical sites, including churches and monuments, have been successfully restored and preserved for generations to come. For the last several years, our “Ante & Evelyn
Mrgudic scholarship fund” for students attending local trade schools in the Dubrovnik area has been able to award many with the chance to further their education and allow a positive outlook on their future.
This past year we were able to award eleven (11) deserving students $1,000 each to pursue their goals in a trade school. All of these students are in good-standing and come from families that are financially burdened; therefore a scholarship such as this is very much appreciated. By encouraging these students to train in these professions, we are hoping to promote a sense of stability, individually and in the community.
With your support we hope to continue our Sv.Vlaho traditional celebration and fundraising for years to come. Through the years, the Croatian people throughout Southern
California have shown a great sense of generosity and unity and we hope to carry it on to the next generation.
In the name of the Sv. Vlaho Committee, I thank every one of you for your friendship and generosity. I hope you enjoy this special evening!

It is with great pleasure to welcome you all here tonight to our 16th annual Sv. Vlaho Festa. I would like to express sincere gratitude to all of you who make our Festa great success, especially our hard working kitchen staff, sponsors and committee members for their support and dedication.
With our last year festa profits and donations, we were able to award eleven deserving and qualified students $1000.00 each from the Dubrovnik region, so they can continue their studies. Ten scholarships were given in the name of Ante & Evelyn Mrgudic memorial fund and one was given in the name of last yearís Festanjul Mr. George Jurica, who sponsored one student. These students are continuing their education in local trade schools and come from families that are financially burdened, which makes these young people very grateful for the assistance they are receiving from our scholarship fund.
With your help we hope to keep the Sv.Vlaho celebration alive and to pass the Libertas flag to the next generation as symbol of freedom, generosity and unity of our Croatian people in Southern California.
